Fourteen years ago this week I embarked on my first of many trips to India…That first journey made such a huge impact on my life and was the beginning of a huge shift in my thinking, the appreciation for the simple pleasures in life, and a heightened sense of compassion…Traveling in India is not easy as many say, but I would not trade the experience for anything.
Looking forward to my next adventure soon…
So it’s been over a year now since our world as we knew it changed. I returned from my trip to Sri Lanka last year, and have pretty much been in lockdown in Toronto ever since. It’s been a challenging time for all of us as we learn to adjust to this new normal.
I have dedicated my life to the Art of Photography, The adventure of Travel, and vibrance of South Asian Culture. Since I can remember I have had the urge to explore, around the corner or around the planet. But the last year I have found myself like many unable to travel so freely. I've spent a lot of time watching Travel photographers youtube channels, and have been inspired by the beautiful places, The breath taking landscapes, and most of all the incredible cinematography. So much so it has inspired me to get a drone, and embrace these new creative tools. It has awakened my creativity and inspired me to re-explore my surroundings here in Toronto with a fresh perspective, and a birds eye view. Since I was a child my urge to explore has also made me dream of flying…Now I can.
I got myself the DJI mini 2. It’s a great little drone for the newbies like me. Because of it’s light weight it allows you to avoid a lot of the hassles with the bigger drones, like registering and getting a license. It’s great for travel, yet still takes amazing images and video. Shooting in 4K and even Raw photos.
It has been a bit of a learning curve, but a lot of fun and keeping me busy learning aerial photography.
I’m looking forward to using this once I’m able to travel again.
One year ago I was on an amazing Journey. My fourth visit to Sri Lanka.
with a Rich Culture, Unesco Heritage Sites, Super Friendly People, beautiful Nature, Tea estates, and Aundant Wildlife. Sri Lanka, the perfect holiday destination is open for Travel and tourism again in 2021
Sri Lanka is truly the perfect destination for a Holiday. With beautiful, pristine beaches if you just want to chill, with stunning sunsets, and you will see something very unique to Sri Lanka, Stilt Fisherman.
But if Culture is more your thing Sri Lanka also has an astonishing array of Historical places, several Unesco World Heritage sites, Ancient cities, Cave Temples. You can visit beautiful temples and learn about Buddhism, and Buddhist history in Sri Lanka.
The access to nature in Sri Lanka is superb, you can go from the city to a provincial park in a few short hours, where you can see wild elephants, Leopards, peacocks.
It is a nature lovers paradise. Tea Estates are a must see when you are in the Highlands in Nuwara Eliya and Ella.
Sri Lanka has a unique style and it is evident all over the island.
Buddhism has had a significant influence on Sri Lankan architecture, as it has been around since the third Century B.C. Geoffrey Bawa gave rise to Sri Lanka’s unique style of Tropical Modernism. You can see it all over the island. You can also visit Lunuganga his former Country Heritage Estate in Bentota. It's a relaxing place with beautiful gardens and has been turned into a boutique guest house with just a few rooms. Operated by Teardrop Hotels. I loved my time there.
